Galaxy Line Overview

APC Galaxy Products

Problems relating to the quality and availability of electrical power are more and more crucial due to the key role of communications and electronics in many critical applications.  In sensitive industrial sectors, such as Marine and Offshore, Airports and Transportation, Healthcare and Pharmaceutical… any lack of electrical power can engender serious danger and put human life at risk.  Secure powered systems are now an integral part of the value chain to meet growing needs for high-quality and high-availability power.  Galaxy three-phase UPS solutions offer state-of-the art technology that increases availability, flexibility and performance.

Schneider Electric designs and provides the widest range of standard and adaptable three-phase products.  Pictured here is a graphical representation of the kVA parameters of each of the 400-volt Galaxy Three-Phase products.  The Galaxy line begins with the Galaxy 3500 at the 10 to 40 kVA range.  Also in the 400V category is the Galaxy 5500, with a range of 20-120 kVA.  And for those in need of 160 to 200 kVA we have the Galaxy VM 400V.

Let’s start our overview of the Galaxy product line by looking at its ease of installation and serviceability.  Some of the features that make this possible include: Front access servicing-installation and maintenance of all components can be carried out without access to the rear or sides of the cabinet, Multiple levels of service, and with the option of packages or individual service components, our services are structured to allow you to pick and choose what you would like Schneider Electric™ to do for you.

Next is the Galaxy’s user friendly interface: A back-lit, wide-angle graphic display allows clear messages presenting detailed information on diagnostics and UPS status, Event log for all alarms and events including UPS and battery life cycle data, LED mimic diagram, Battery and UPS cycle monitor, and Self-diagnostic report.

For those concerned with remote monitoring and management of their Galaxy system, Schneider Electric has network management cards and StruxureWare software to meet the need. Each Schneider Electric UPS is equipped with internal slots to accommodate a variety of network management options: dry contact, Modbus / RS485 capability, Ethernet (web server and e-mail notification) and remote monitoring.  As for StruxureWare software, it is a unique platform of applications and suites that gives you visibility into energy and other resource use across your organization.

And last but not least is the parallel capability of the Galaxy line.  In some configurations, such as 1+1 no extra paralleling gear is required, saving valuable space and cost.  In cases of 2+1 configurations and greater, a system level bypass is required.
